The IOW Oceanographic Database

The hydrographic, hydrochemical, and biological data collected as part of the environmental monitoring and long-term data program are continuously archived in the IOW’s measurement database (IOWDB) with quality assurance. Using the ODIN 2 database interface (Oceanographic Database Search with Interactive Navigation), data from both the monitoring expeditions and the autonomous MARNET stations can be retrieved and exported in numerous data formats for further scientific use.

How to get access?

Users get access to nearly the entire dataset of the IOW oceanographic database after registration in ODIN 2. Registration is free of charge.

In the interface menu, unsers can choose between the search modes “Data Searches,” “Expeditions,” “Time Series,” and “Parameter Types.”

We recommend using the “Data Searches” menu item to perform a custom search. In this application, you can individually configure various search parameters, such as parameter type, time range, expedition, sea area/coordinate search, depth range, and station grid. After initiating the database search, you can select the export format for the data download.
