Internships for Students

The Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research in Warnemünde offers students in years 10, 11 and 12 the chance to get a taste of marine research.

You can currently take a look behind the scenes in three of our five departments: Marine Biology, Physical Oceanography and Marine Geosciences.

We are always delighted to welcome young and motivated marine researchers!

Please find out more here about the programmes on offer, their content and how to get in touch.

Volunteering at IOW

The IOW offers a full year of insights into marine research, during which you can work alongside scientists and gain professional experience.

The programme is divided into placements for the Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ) and placements for the Voluntary Social Year in Science, Technology and Sustainability (FJN), which are organised by various providers.

Please find out more about our opportunities and how to get in touch here.
