Stakeholder-Workshop:

On May 27th 2026, 25 experts from a wide range of sectors – local authorities, government agencies, medical research, marine research, environmental services, tourism and project management – met at the IOW in person and online for a first joint workshop to discuss the topic of Vibrio risk assessment in bathing water. Participants came from Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Hamburg. Scientists from the IOW provided an update on the state of technical development and presented initial measurement data. However, the central focus was on the discussion with potential users and providers of environmental data. There was very interesting input and suggestions aimed at clarifying the following key questions:

Who is the target group for this information? Who can offer and carry out these services? How do we make this data accessible?

The findings will be incorporated into the project’s ongoing work. On September 10th 2026, a second workshop will be held at the IOW to mark the conclusion of the project and set the course for its long-term use.
