Expertise

I am a physicist working in physical oceanography, focusing on the dynamics of coastal and marginal seas, with particular emphasis on the Baltic Sea. My research combines high-resolution numerical modelling, theory, and observations to understand transport, mixing, and circulation processes across scales—from submesoscale dynamics to basin-wide exchange. A key aspect of my work is linking physical processes to biogeochemical and environmental challenges, including oxygen dynamics, sea level variability, and the transport of pollutants such as legacy munitions.

  1. Coastal and estuarine physical oceanography
  2. High-resolution numerical modelling (GETM)
  3. Transport and dispersion processes
  4. Sea level dynamics and extreme events
  5. Oxygen dynamics and hypoxia
  6. Munitions and environmental risk assessment
  7. Coupled physical–biogeochemical processes
  8. Data-model integration
  9. Particle tracking and its numerics
