Research Data Management
Data is the key to successful scientific work. A sophisticated research data management (RDM) ensures the long-term availability of data and associated metadata and allows for an easy data search and retrieval. Furthermore, a profound RDM supports international data exchange and the provision of data products to scientific, political, economic, and public stakeholders.
Services
The IOW offers various RDM services that enable internal and external access to research results. These services include, for example, the interactive tool ODIN for searching the in-house oceanographic database IOWDB, the metadata catalog IOWMETA, the THREDDS data server for model data, and the overview page of all publications released with an IOW DOI.

IOW Data Policy (2025)
The IOW Data Policy forms the basis for a transparent, open and FAIR handling of the research data generated at IOW and has the specific aim of ensuring access, interpretability and reproducibility of the research outcomes. The IOW Data Policy provides, inter alia, recommendations for the use of the internal data infrastructure.
