Data Management

Data are the key to successful scientific work. A sophisticated data management will guarantee the long-term availability of observational data and metadata, and will allow for an easy data search and retrieval, to supplement the international data exchange and to provide data products for scientific, political, industrial and public stakeholders.

Services

In general, the IOW offers various services for Research Data Management (RDM), which also enable external access to our research results. These include, for example, the interactive tool ODIN for searches in the in-house oceanographic database IOWDB, the metadata catalogue IOWMETA, the THREDDS data server for model data, and the (data) publications released with IOW DOI. If you have any questions or suggestions, or if you need support, please feel free to contact the IOW RDM team (rnulldm@iow.de) at any time.

Data Policy

The IOW Data Policy forms the basis for a transparent, open and FAIR handling of the research data generated at our institute and has the specific aim of ensuring access, interpretability and reproducibility of the research outcomes.
The IOW Data Policy provides, inter alia, recommendations for the use of the internal data infrastructure.
