My research lies at the interface between biogeochemical nitrogen cycling and physical transport processes in sandy coastal sediments. The objective is to establish a mechanistic understanding of the coastal nitrogen filter within these highly active zones. For this, I combine in situ measurements using chamber landers with laboratory experiments employing stable nitrogen isotopes, specifically to quantify DNRA and denitrification and determine their significance for the coastal nitrogen budget.
